SM FOUNDATION LAUNCHES THE 43RD KABALIKAT SA KABUHAYAN IN GENSAN

The training program is the 43rd KSK program of SM Foundation, Inc. to be conducted since its first launch almost five years ago.
With over 140 farmer participants and guests, the launch was conducted at Brgy. Ligaya. Farmer participants came from different Barangays in General Santos City such as Brgy. Batomelong, Brgy. Katangawan, and Brgy. Olympog. Farmer participants will be taught the dual-tech approach of farming by KSK trainer. They will also learn the new technology of Harbest Agribusiness Corporation on application of fertilizers, soil amendments, or other water-soluble products through an irrigation system. Efficient use of water, lower labor cost and better yield are some of its benefits.
The training, which will start on June 19 and will be culminated first week of September, has 12 sessions of technical briefing and hands-on field exercises at the site training, also in Brgy. Ligaya. Harbest Agribusiness Corp. provided the improved and double agricultural technology while the CAO as the implementing office provided the training, venue and the facilitator.

SM FOUNDATION TURNS OVER SCHOOL BUILDINGS IN GENERAL SANTOS CITY
In support of the Adopt-A-School Program of the Department of Education, SM Prime Holdings, through SM Foundation, turned over school buildings to two schools in General Santos City. A 2-room 1-storey building was turned over to General Santos City Special Education Integrated School on February 21, 2012.
Another 4-room 1-storey building, in partnership with BDO Foundation, was turned over to Banisil National Highschool in Tambler which is eight kilometers from the heart of the City.
SM foundation has already turned over 42 school buildings nationwide since 2002. The school buildings are equipped with complete toilet facilities, armchairs, blackboards, teacher’s desk sets, and ceiling fans.
In addition, thousands of textbooks and reading materials were also handed over to each of the school libraries.
Aside from the school buildings, SM Foundation also takes pride in SM College Scholarship Program. The SM College Scholarship Program was established by SM Foundation in 1993 to help provide quality education to bright but underprivileged public high school graduates.
The program has 900 college scholars nationwide. The scholars are enrolled in 73 colleges and universities in NCR, Baguio, Batangas, Bulacan, Cavite, Laguna, Lucena, Pampanga, Pangasinan, Rizal, Tarlac, Bacolod, Cagayan de Oro, Cebu, Davao, Iloilo and now in General Santos City.
The program has 900 college scholars nationwide. The scholars are enrolled in 73 colleges and universities in NCR, Baguio, Batangas, Bulacan, Cavite, Laguna, Lucena, Pampanga, Pangasinan, Rizal, Tarlac, Bacolod, Cagayan de Oro, Cebu, Davao, Iloilo and now in General Santos City.
